Difference between Aari Needle and Crochet Hook

Aari and Crochet, both are popular needles that are used worldwide. Though the needles used to do this work seem similar but they are significantly different from one another.

In this article, I will share the difference between both the needles and their independent purposes.

How they work

Aari Needles or Embroidery Hooks are used for doing surface ornamentation of fabric by making designs with different types of threads, beads, and sequins. Watch the video online to know about different embroidery hooks       While with crochet hooks you design your own fabric, it is a bit similar to knitting but the process is different. In this, you make your own fabric and give it the shape and the design you like while crocheting. You can buy Aari Embroidery Needles here

Size

Aari Needles are extremely thin and sharp as compared to crochet hooks which make it easy for them to effortlessly puncture through the fabric. The needles used for bead and sequins embroidery has a consistent diameter up to4cm.

Thread Used

Threads that are mainly used with Aari Needles are zari, metallic threads, silk, and cotton threads. While the thread used with crochet hooks are cotton, wool, linen, silk, and nylon.

Popular Stitches

Bosnian, Clothesline, Elf and Floral are the most popular stitches in crochet.

While Markan, Chain and Reverse stitch are the most popular stitches in Aari Needle.

Use

A range of products like garments, accessories, rug, footwear, toys, bags, etc. can be made with a crochet needle. They are also used for making laces and frills which are then added to dress for adornment.

On the other hand, aari work is mainly done for the embellishment of couture wear (sarees, lehenga etc.), bags, footwear etc.

Material Used

Aari Needles are made of Iron and Wood (for making the handle of the needle) while crochet hooks could be made from steel, aluminum, wood, and plastic.

These are some of the basic differences between both the needles. You can buy best quality needles online at embroiderymaterial.com
