French Bullion Wire: -

it’s a copper metal made hollow metallic wire. Its most famous shapes are smooth and crinkled metallic wire but now we have it in many other interesting shapes according to the current trends in fashion. Aari and Zardosi hand embroidery techniques are used on fabrics to do embroidery with these wires.

Smooth metallic Wire: -

This wire’s outer surface is smooth and you can get 0.7MM, 1MM, 1.5MM, 2MM & 3MM diameter of wire in this style. The price of the bullion wire starts from USD$ 2.63 for 50 Yards. Luster and Matt finish are the popular choices in this. In India, these are called Dapka or Dabka wires. The French bullion wire usually comes in the bundle of strings and each string is usually 20cm to 40cm long. You cut these strings in small pieces like it shown in the below picture and then do embroidery with them. You also use them in jewelry making like it shown in the below picture. Crinkled Metallic Wire: -

These embroidery wires are in the shape of heart beat line on monitor. The zigzag surface of these metallic wires makes them very interesting for hand embroidery on different fabrics. In India, these are called Nakshi wires and specially used to do haute couture embroidery work on wedding dresses.

Gimp Wire : -

it’s also a copper metal made hollow wire but it’s a stiff wire as compare to French metallic wire and is in continuous length where French wires comes in strings. Gimp wire price starts from USD$3.15 for 25 meter. 1MM and 1.25MM size are available in this stiff metallic wire. The outer surface of these wires is in continuous beads string shape.
