How to use French Wire at the Lock while making any Jewellery item

In this article, I will show you how to use French Wire at the lock for protecting the thread from fraying and abrasion.

Materials you may need:

  • Thread (any strong and thin thread)
  • Needle (Pony no. 10 or any thin needle)
  • Crimp Bead
  • French Wire
  • Scissors

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Cut the Jewellery thread as per the desired length and pass it through the eye of the needle.

Step 2: Cut 1.3 cm length of French Wire.

Step 3: After that, pass the needle through a bead and the cut section of French wire. Once it’s done, pass the French Wire through the ring of the clasp.

Step 4: Now, carefully pass the thread back through with the help of the needle.

Step 5: Pull the thread tightly so that French wire forms a loop.

Step 6: Add beads and pearls of your choice in the string. We have shown how to do this in another article on our blog. You can check it here.

Step 7: When you are done with stringing the beads then repeat the same process at the other end to add the ring.

And you are done!
