This year Met Gala theme was “Camp: Notes of Fashion”, inspired by Susan Sontag's 1964 essay, which defines camp as "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration. We saw how celebrities didn’t hesitate to gel in the drama and took the Camp fashion to the extreme.
The way that celebrities managed to pull this off is purely phenomenal and all we can say is that there are no boundaries or limits to the creativity of a designer.
One such example was 100 lbs. shell costume worn by Ryan Murphy. The dress was designed by Christian Siriano. He wore a shimmery orange tux with a matching bow tie and finished the look with pearl embellished cape.
The American Horror Story creator’s costume inspiration came from the costume wore by Liberace. In the small interview with E he said, “Christian Siriano made this for me and we are doing a tribute to Liberace”. “Liberace was one of the best Camp figures and he wore this costume in the performance called the Neptune”, he added.
When he was asked how long it took him to come here and how long it took him to be ready, he replied, “It was a literal hell, I had to lay down in the car as the costume weighs a 100 pound and I was harnessed in”. “Anything for fashion”, he added. He described it all as a fun experience.
We just can’t stop drooling over the beautiful masterpiece put together by Christian Siriano. The precise work of sequins and pearls makes it so much more interesting and no wonder why it took 2 months to design this cape.
Pearls always make everything look so mesmerizing but the way they are embroidered on this cape is beyond words. If you also have a love for pearl beads then you can check our colorful collection which by the way you are going to love.
